Chunky chickie!!! Cuckoo Marans (cockerel?) Another Cuckoo Marans Another fluffy Cuckoo Marans A light colored Cuckoo Marans Black Orp Cuckoo Marans - born black with no spot. No barring on wings yet????? Blue Orp Everybody in a pile napping. Note the 2 Sumo chicks watching over them!!!!! Cuckoo Marans One of the Sumo chicks (Cuckoo Marans) snuggled in.
Very sweet! The lighter CMs are probably cockerels. They are never as dark as the pullets. Sumo chick is right! That's exactly what I called the first chick hatched by herechickchick from Suede with my Buff Brahma as the mom. What a little tank it was! Now, at three months old, we find out it's a pullet! A big chunky pullet! They look great-love the chickie pile!
Thanks, Cyn. As usual, it looks like I have mostly cockerels. GGGRRRRRR!!!! Oh well, at least I have several with feathered legs. Can't wait to see how I came out on the Orps. The blue one is bigger than the 2 black ones, so I'm hoping that the blue is a cockerel and the blacks are pullets. That would work out just fine!!! Lori
Cuckoo Marans are such beautiful chickens. Does look like about three cockerals at least. When I had Marans, I always hatched more Cockerals than pullets.
No, Countrygirl, I'm not positive that the black one with no barring is not an Orp. It's possible that in the excitement of hatching I made a mistake. The only thing is that it is quite a bit more fuzzy than the other Orps and the Marans are all fuzzy like that. But I definitely could have made a mistake. Bama -my last few hatches have been very heavy on the cockerels and I'm afraid this one is turning out the same! Lori
