Looks like one toe was seriously broken (pulled out of socket between 2nd and 3rd Phalange of the middle toe) of the right foot. The left foot appears to have developed with infirmities one sees often in those captive galliform species that are less omnivorous/more carnivorous than the wild turkey or domestic peafowl. Nutritional deficiencies suck. I've got a whole herd of Palawan Peacock Pheasants and Lewis's (Cardamom Mountains) Black Silver pheasants that I've procured from experienced breeders. This last few years most if not all the chicks of these two species hatched with deformed toes. These peafowl hybrids that have such a high % of green peafowl in their genetics appear to require the same nutrition as pure greens. I don't know why some birds are effected so far as physical infirmities goes- and not others. That's a good idea to put the boards down on the ground. Is that to help keep the substrate clean? Must make cleaning up a bit easier- like pasture management.
Do you find the kibbles to be less wasteful, more efficient, than the soft pellets? That Black Winged Peacock is incredible. The coverts look like they've got electric edges.
