This is our 2nd time in three years raising chicks. Here are my new girls the day we got them. We have New Hampshire Reds, Dominques, Ameraucanas, Gold Laced Wyandottes and Buff Orpingtons.

Just so you know, if you got them from a hatchery, your Ameraucanas are Easter eggers, not fullblooded. They are so cute! I miss having chicks!

I got them from Ideal both times. First time I received one normal colored EE, 1 white EE and one buff/white Ameraucana (she has great tufted cheeks!). This time a normal EE, and I think another buff/white. All lay green/blue eggs and are healthy...that is all that matters to me.

Now I've got to find a feather duster for my brooder. Too cute!

those orpington babies are adorable.

We have 26 total. 2 of each, except for 18 New Hampshire Reds. 12 of those are going to my cousin's dairy farm on Friday.

Here are some pics of the brooder. It's in the corner of our shed and the coop is just outside. We keep it closed up tight so the other chickens/rodents can't get in. It has chicken wire on the door/window to keep them safe, but allow for airflow. We have a heat lamp on a pully system so we can raise it/lower it as needed. Worked great last time and so far, so good this time.
