I'm so happy! These were supposed to hatch on the 10th. This was my first time hatching eggs and I was getting worried that they wouldn't hatch. Every day after school I hoped I'd come home to see a fluffy munchkin in there. Two days ago though, I heard somebody peeping from inside the egg! I never heard any of the others though. This morning I had to get my wisdom teeth removed... My dad wanted to come with me for that, and he showed me a picture on his phone of the eggs. (I was at Mom's house, the incubator is at his.) Anyway, one egg had zipped overnight and another had pipped. The third one didn't look like it had done anything. In about an hour we went to look at them before we went to the oral surgeon. The first little duck had hatched! There was still just a pip in the other egg, and nothing visible on the third.

So... After I had my teeth out, a couple hours later I went and sat rather drowsily by the incubator and a saw the second baby! S/he still had the shell stuck, but it fell off eventually. Then I went to recover at Mom's house for a few more hours and when my dad came to see how I was doing he said the third egg hatched! We went over right away so I could see it. I'm just so in awe. I pictured myself hatching duckligs, but the reality of it was SO different. I wasn't even thinking all three would hatch at this point since they were late and I think only one ever made a sound before hatching. They sure came out FAST too! Hardly any time in between when they pipped and zipped and popped out.

The duckies hatching totally made my day and pretty much canceled out getting those darn wisdom teeth out. I think their markings are so interesting and while I love them in their baby form, I also can't wait to see how their feathers come in! These ones are going to be friendly too. I'm going to keep them in the hosue for awhile so I can spend extra time with them. Our new McMurray's Khakis are so afraid of people, and their setup isn't really convenient to spend time with them. There's definitely something special about ducklings hatched by us from our own eggs.

I was also wondering if anyone might guess what crosses they might be and what colors they'll be when they get feathers? The possible crosses are:
-Khaki x Pekin
-Khaki x Blue Runner
-Pekin x Blue Runner (Only if our runner is female, but we think it's male.)
-Pure Khaki (But I doubt it!)

So, this is where the air sac on one of the eggs was:

For these ones, ignore the silly note my brother's friend wrote on that wooden coat rack.

I'm no expert but just for fun, my guess is the light guy is the pekin khaki cross, the little guy with the spotted feet is the runner khaki mix... and the other... no idea. CUTE!!

Haha, the one with the yellow wings has a slight underbite. It's kinda cute.

Congratulations! They are adorable. (I'm sorry that I don't know their crossed breeds.)

There's NO way I could be typing and sound coherent right after having my wisdom teeth removed! I'm pretty sure I fell asleep the second I arrived home from having that done. Then again, I didn't have brand new little fluffy babies to squeeze.

I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight! Earlier on I was having a hard time walking around myself and when I was sitting by the incubator I know I fell asleep a few times.

But it was too exciting for me to go to sleep! Teehee.

They are so cool.

I noticed that you had a rag in the incubator. I've never hatched ducks before...was it a damp rag to increase the humidity?
Congrads on your new babies!!

Yes, I put an old hand towel in there because the directions that came with the bator said to have the moisture rings full right from the get go. I soaked the towel and put it along the edge when lock down came. So it helped raise the humidity, especially since I had to open the second vent plug too.
