This is a picture of one of my EE'S that I hatched in March. I will add a picture of her mom below this picture, but her dad is no longer with us.

This is mom(Shirley) we got her off of Craigslist. She has such a personality.

This is another EE that I got from the same person on Craigslist. This is the first time she has had feathers on her back since I got her. We call her Pickles because she was always picking her feathers off her own back. After going thru her molt recently she has finally grown feathers & hasn't eaten them all off. We are keeping our fingers crossed, lol.

This is a EE that I got from McMurray Hatchery this Spring. I'm a little bummed, nice bird but she doesn't lay a colored egg, hers are brown.

This is a picture of my flock, I've went into the garage for food, but they think I'm bring them some scratch. Just had to go back & get some for them because it was just too funny.

This is a picture of my first coop. Hubby & I built it last Dec & part of January this year. The tempurature hovered between 9* F with windchills in the negative's throughout the entire building process. I cannot tell you how glad I was to see it done. This was the first home for our Craigslist girls & Roo.

This is a picture of our 2nd coop. We built this in May & June of this year. Currently it houses 26 birds, 2 Roo & 24 hens comfortably. Both coops are connected with Chicken yards, with the option of closing a little chicken door between the 2 runs if needed. I also have a chicky playpen built in one corner of the big run for yard time for our baby chicks - love that feature.

This a partial picture of the runs, note the turtle sandboxes. I use these for sand, powdery black dirt & stove ash for dust bathing. This allows me to cover them at night & during storms. Plus when I take the lid off I prop them up on a pipe & the birds use them for shade.

This Winter my flock is enjoying the underside of the coop for dust bathing.

Today was a cold but sunny day. Here are some of the gang enjoying the warmth of the deck in the sun.

This here is a picture of both my roosters hanging out with the ladies at the same time. Wow, that doesn't happen often, lol.

This is Kazoo, he is a Sicilian Buttercup. He is the smallest of my 2 Roos, but he is #1 Roo. We gave him his name because when he first started crowing he sounded like a Kazoo.

And this is Ollie my 2nd Roo, he is a White Chantecler. He is so docile, unfortunately Kazoo often chases him all over pulling out feathers. We've contiplated getting rid of him, but the people backed out on us (thankfully). I absolutely love both of my Roos. It would break my heart to have to get rid of Ollie now. He makes me laugh everyday. He seems to be "all legs", when he comes running he looks like a ostrich, it's hilarious. Even his feet make a tromping sound when he runs.

This is Goldielocks, she is our only Buff Orpington on the farm. We are hoping that she & Kazoo will make beautiful baby chicks for us this Spring. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will brood and hatch them herself. I have only ever had the opportunity to hatch with a incubator. Would love to see momma with babies.

This is Henny Penny, she is the only pearl leghorn that I have and she is one of the originals from my Craigslist purchase. Currently she is going thru molt so she's a little rough around the edges. But she is a egg laying machine when she's not molting. Plus she will go outside in ANY weather condition.

Here is Kazoo showing off for the ladies. Even if the run door is open, he likes to fly over the fence. First stopping on the fence to crow.

Nice set-up and nice birds! I can not imagine working in that kind of cold weather.

Thank you, it was not any fun. Even in heavy winter gear we froze. We would work for a couple hours then quit before we froze to death.

Thank for the kind words, we love our girls & want to make things as nice as we can. In fact the little coop is completely made with recycled materials except for the cedar shakes.

Thank you, love my girls & boys. Lucky for me the turtles were put out for trash, so a major score for me.
My husband & I tried to use as much recycled materials as possible while building both coops. They still managed to be quiet costly anyway. The treated lumber for the coop bases and the fence post were costly as well as all the metal wire & cedar shakes. But we wanted it to look the best where everyone could see it. We didn't want it to be a eyesore for the neighbors to look at.

These are my new December-hatch-along chicks ~ Born December 24th 2014

I am not certain of any of their breeds, they are more of my beautiful backyard mutts offsprings.

This picture is of my Granddaughter Lily holding the little fuzzy butts.
