I was looking at another thread where the person was posting pics of their nice looking new chicken coop. I took a pic of mine and decide it was only fitting to start this thread. Me and my 9 year old daughter threw this together in one afternoon using old recycled landscaping timbers and some old tin my brother in law gave me. I hung my old collection of enamel ware pots and pans up there and then threw in a couple of old deer antlers that my stepdad had on there. I've been telling people it looks like a cross between Fred Sanford and the Blair Witch Project. But it still works well - just LOOKS like something even the Beverly Hillbillies would tear down!! lol

Out to the left is the wire coop I started with. If you can see that old plastic toy box to the left (blue and white) that's our worm bed and then we have cages also to the left with chickens in them. They may not live in a mansion but they are still spoiled rotten. I even cook for them and plants 5 or six different kinds of greens to pick and feed them everyday.

Wow. Dude. Wow. That is some coop.

I can hear the theme from Sanford and Son laying right now. It's . . . twangy.

And I should say that I love it. It is the perfect antidote to all teh rampant perfectionism and flowerboxes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. . .

My, my, my, you get extra brownie points building that thing in Mass! LMAO! I think its great! So many people say the coop they have is a wire cage, it is nice to see your girls have a good solid house with lucky charms all over it.

Seems some people build palaces, others toss wire together, then there's the rest of us who build and learn as we go and use what we have when we can get it. My set up probably cost about 100 bucks and most of that is just roof repair.

BTW, I was born and raised in MA so I am not making fun, I just know where you're coming from....

I love it. I'll post some pics of my wreck some time soon. I don't have any kitchenware attached to it, but I may now have been inspired...

Quote:Out to the left I started out with a wire pen. I just had the back part covered for rain protection , but we threw this up ( LOL) really fast with just what we had laying around. It's kept them dry and warm through the winter - We'll have to see how it holds up down here when those tornadoes start coming through. I didn't think about lucky charms either- Think I have a box of old horse shoes somewhere!! LOL This would put the finishing touches on it !!.

Ps all this was made out of stuff that I cleaned up when I was mowing yards and cleaning up properties for my Brother ( who has a lot of rental and investment properties) and properties for different real estate offices. So I didn't have to spend a dime!! Which is good because I'm self-unemployed at the moment!!

Oh and it's okay to laugh at it- I laugh at it myself!!
