I will be moving this summer to an apartment for about 4 years for school. Right now I have a betta fish in a two gallon tank but would love to set up something larger. The largest I've had is a 10 gallon with some platys in it. That was a lot of fun but I had to keep the tank small due to rules in the campus housing and also for portability.
I would love to see pictures of your goldfish tanks. I'm thinking goldfish because they seem to have a lot of personality and they are larger fish. The last goldfish we had lived for over 10 years and they were just cheap feeder fish! That was before we even knew what we were doing with fish.
