*PICTURES* Red feet, scales loose, toenail missing....

looks like bumblefoot to me and looks like the left foot has bumble too.... see how the webbing b.t. toes is all swollen.... betcha the other foot has a swollen pad underneath w. black dot on it.

That is DEFINITELY bumblefoot. You need to pull that core out and put antibiotic in there. It shouldn't be hard to do with it being that big. Wrap it with vet tape. There is an eggsellent thread on here about bumblefoot.

Ddawn, Thanks. That will be fun, clipping an upside-down chickens toenails. Will dog toenail clippers work?

teach1rusl, I figured that's what I'd do. I'm only worried that the toe will bleed again...

Twister, there is nothing on the bottom of the other foot. I had my suspicions too, but looked an nothing was there.

Jennh, thanks. Probably didn't recognize it as my only other experience with B.F. was on top of the chickens foot - weird, eh? I don't look forward to trying to wrap her feet....

You're quite welcome. I had a chicken that had bumblefoot on the top AND bottom of the same foot. I think she got it caught in something. Then I had a chicken who had it on her head right behind her ear. She got her head caught in the fence (dumb chicken) I just "pulled the plug", and put antibacterial ointment on that . Kinda hard to wrap a chicken's head

When you wrap her foot, cut (or tear) your wrap in half, and wrap it between the toes, not the whole foot. It sticks to itself. Don't make it too tight. I have used purple and pink vet tape. You should have seen the 1st time I wrapped. The girls were all coming up looking at her foot like "that's pretty" LOL

i am glad you got some pics posted.i knew with pics these guys on here can diagnose and solve most problems.
good luck with your birds.

Thanks guys! Due to taking care of other guys by shoveling snowdrifts to check on them, and rescuing my resident dodo birds from the cold, I didn't get to start with her today, but I will tomorrow.

I'll post again later as an update to see how things are going along.

looks like you have some scalet leg mites going on there as well.
