About 40! 8 different breeds separated into different pens. We had closer to 70 but some died from Mareks early in the year :(, and then we recently culled all our extra roosters. My Plymouth barred rocks and Light Sussex pens, each have 7 hens and a rooster, but most of my other pens have 2- 3 hens with one rooster. ( unfortunately when you buy chicks straight run/ hatch them out you get SO many roosters, and never enough hens :(!
