Pigeon, Help

[Mt. Baker Quail]

I just caught a pigeon that hit my house, and it appears to have a chest wound like it was shot. I gave it food and water. What else can I do? There's a small puddle of blood under it -- not excessive.

Keep it in a warm, dark place so it can recover. What kind of food did you give it? You might want to mix some electrolytes into the water to help with the stress.

I gave it some birdseed mix.

If you have any crumbles feed you can give it some of that as well. Bird seed is their fav but it doesn't have a whole lot of 'good stuff' in it unless you mix it yourself specifically for pigeons. Crumbles feed, whether starter or layer, at least has the necessary vitamins and such.

That would be fine.

I gave it gamebird starter and water and it's in a pet crate with a towel on top of the pet crate, so now we just have to wait and see.

It made it through the night, but it just sits in the back of the crate and I don't think it's eaten or drank anything.
