Pigeon neck piercing-WHY??

Why would anyone to this to a poor pigeon? There is no point, and that heavy jewelery looks painful!

I believe it is fake. Pigeons neck skin and throat are very close, therefore, not allowing for piercings. Although it may not be fake, it likely is. Please don't go around reposting against this photo. Pigeons are a dying hobby, that do not need bad attention. PETA is already using every thing against us pigeon people.

Just because someone was cruel to their pigeons doesn't mean they should take away showing pigeons and racing pigeons away from all of us. Most pigeon fanciers are very nice, gentle people. they don't do this to their pigeons. Now, I dislike what this person is doing, especially posting it to the world.

That is a common practice in some countries, often accompanied by special rings that produce a certain whistling noise in the air or even bells. Putting rings on a bird is one thing, but to actually pierce them with jewelry is another level of ridiculous and unnecessary.

There's a lot more to pigeons than most realize. You can show them, breed them, fly them, train them, and race them. My homing pigeons have homed from 80 miles away, but their blood has done 600-720 miles.
