Pine Pellet Bedding

New chick momma here.... I have 1 week old chicks that I am going to be using pine pellets in their brooder for bedding. Right now I have paper towel on top but will be removing it soon. I just put the pellets into the brooder "As Is". Am I using it correctly? And how do I clean it out? Am I suppose to just spot check poop (remove) and then just shuffle around the clean pellets as some area turns to dust due to getting wet from the poop? Any advice will be helpful.

I had the same question, currently using pine shavings till they get older, but eventually will be using the pine pellets in the run.
