Pipping but no noise?

I have been gone half of today. When I left at 2:30 pm, there were no noises, movement or pips. When I came home at 8 pm there was 1 egg that had pipped. So its almost 10 pm now and I haven't seen it rocking or move at all. I haven't heard a sound at all! Is this normal? I am on day 20 with silkies, and this is my first hatch. I tried to search the forum for answers but can't find it. Thanks!

Yes, that is normal, I have never heard my chickies until they start zipping, some people say they can hear them, but I never have. Just wait until they start zipping, then you'll miss the quiet!

Also they take long rests between pipping and zipping sometimes a day, so you may not see rocking for a while.

Thank You so much! I feel alot better. I was terrified, it had pipped then drowned or something?!?! I worry about every little thing. I feel better about going to bed now. Thanks!
