My broody got off her nest yesterday morning and left this pipping egg. By the time I found it it was cold, so I brought it inside and put under a heat lamp. I expected it to hatch during the night, but this morning it hadn't made any progress. Because it had been a full 24hrs with no progress, I began to assist very cautiously, but I saw a little blood and immediately stopped. Now I'm worried that I've hurt the baby. It's still alive and tapping away, and it didn't act hurt when the blood started to appear, but I'm still a little worried. Here are some pictures.

It still needs time to drawn in the blood from the veins in the egg! Hopefully it will hatch alright, keep the egg almost wet so the membrane doesnt shrink wrap the chick

Thank you for answering! How should I go about keeping it wet?

I used hot water in a mister, you could also get a paper towel wet with hot water and gently dab the water on and around the opening. Be careful, you dont want to drown they chick either...
