Eating a burger
I have sand in my coop and it's now time to drag it out
So I want to spread it around in a fenced area the chickens and turkeys run in and I want to plant clover and buckwheat in it. Has anyone had success with this? I don't want to try it and then nothing grows because it's too fertile. Thanks

The main problem I can see is that sand drains too fast. So, the plants will dry out too fast. I would recommend, as it is fall, to try to till it into the dirt and then plant in the spring, so the excess nitrogen has had time and rain/snow to sink into the dirt around the sand. Then you can plant in that spot.

Ok!! Thank you! I was worried the nitrogen would be too high
It probably will be when you first put it down, that's why I'm suggesting to put it down and mix it in, then plant in spring once the nitrogen has had time to mellow a bit (same as if you compost manure it's not as "hot")
