planting veggies for the chickens.

I planted my corn, and swiss chard today, and have a lot of leftover seeds. If I plant some
out where the chickens can get to it do you think they will let it get big enough to actually
feed any of them, or will they pick it to death as soon as it sprouts? I plant the corn, and
swiss chard half for me, and half for them. I usually end up with a loooooot leftover every year.

My guess is they'll pick it as soon as it sprouts. My poor onions are still just 1/2 an inch tall because my chickens race to the bed every time I let them out! And green tomatoes call to them too.

somebody else posted about building a shallow wood frame with chicken wire on top to keep grass in the chicken yard. I bet that would work for veggies too .
