Hi all,
I've searched for information about plants, but usually it's about planting things that chickens would like to eat. I've just installed a large,brand new, 6 foot privacy fence around my entire backyard, so my dog and my chickens are delighted to have so much more room. The only problem is that my back yard is bare. It's early spring, so some of the grass, etc. hasn't come up yet. But I want to plant some plants to spruce it all up.
I was thinking of some bushes against the back fence, since it's bare and will be mostly shady. Maybe hydrangeas or azalias. But I have no idea if they will be munched to death by my chickens or not. I plan on putting chicken wire around the vegetable garden, no problem. But does anyone else know of any bushes, plants, ground cover, etc. that chickens won't eat? I was hoping not to actually plant grass there because my kids don't want to mow. I will if I have to, though. But if I could plant clover, periwinkle, bamboo...I don't know. Help!
