Play sand for 3 week old chicks

    If I put a pan of play sand in the brooder for the chicks, will their eating it cause them problems? It is the pavstone brand.

    Welcome to BYC.

    They shouldn't have a problem with the play sand. Well maybe if they a just hatched and don't know what real food is yet. Many use construction sand for grit.

    Thanks, they are about 3 weeks old, 6 Golden Laced Wyandotte female, 1 rooster and 6 Barred Rock females, 1 rooster,
    We live in Colorado at about 9000' so they can't go outside for a while yet. I'm working on the coop/pen now
