For our first coop build ...let’s use a playhouse lol!
Anyway I got this little playhouse for FREE and hubby and I are pretty handy together so here is what we came up with ...
Before...
After!
We were able to use a lot of repurposed wood and actually got the shutters and door to the run from our neighbor’s burn pile lol...
Plexiglass was used on the one double window and then hardware cloth double ply on one window with a place for plexiglass to slide in during the winter and the shutters can close on the other window if it storms or is extra cold. We added the little awning to detour rain coming in and a drip edge as well on the sides. Only thing left to add are egg boxes and all of ours are babies except our adult who goes to her own mini coop at night . We want to put the egg boxes extending out under the window with the shutters to keep floor space . But that will be a project for later in the coming weeks ;-)
Oh and our run is all enclosed including the top. We used three round pen panels as structure and covered with a combo of heavy fence with a layer of chicken wire over it Plus chicken wire over the top along with a recycled pergola top for shade and hardware cloth on the front of the run. We might eventually put a more permanent roof over the run (Thinking tin) but for now this is working
