Please help! Breed & Gender opinions

A few weeks ago I brought home 3 chickens for my backyard. I asked for 3 silkies and ended up with 2 silkies and this little guy/gal. If it's a rooster I'll unfortunately have to find it a new home as the city doesn't allow roosters. I'm also a little worried that one of the silkies might end up being a roo as well. Any ideas on its breed/gender? Thanks for the help!

Cockerel. And from what I can see in the picture, the buff silkie looks like a boy too.

I don't know about breed but I am pretty sure he is a cockerel!

That seems like a lot of red in the comb and wattles. I think cockerel. Breed: could it be one of those silkies that doesn’t have Silkie feathering? Or a Cochin/mix.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Looks like a unanimous cockerel vote. Special thanks to Overo for specific breed type, I googled it and that looks to be exactly what he is.

Does anyone know the best thing to do when you end up with a rooster instead of a hen? He's the most friendly of all three and my favorite, wish I could keep him 🥺

You can sell him on Craigslist! That's what we have done with all our roosters!

You can try to sell him on here, Craigslist, or Facebook. You could also try poultry swaps. You could post him on Adopt-A-Pet and Petfinder, and you can check your local humane society or SPCA to see if they take roosters.
