Please excuse temporary home.....a bit of DIY going on in the coop today.
I DON'T KNOW ALOT ABOUT BREEDS BUT IT LOOKS LIKE RODE ISLAND TO ME.
There's no way to tell you what breed or gender that chick is yet. It's far too young, and the photo isn't good enough.
It is NOT a Rhode Island Red in any way.
Post again when the bird is about eight weeks old, and we'll be able to help.
Wellllll.... an old farmer friend of mine says to hold the chick upside down by their feet and if they flap alot they are roosters, if they flap and relax, they are hens. Not sure if it's legit since the last two chicks he sold me one turned out to be a rooster.
There are several variations on this.....and they're all right.......50% of the time
