My speckled Sussex has some black spots on one side of her wattle. I've had other birds with smaller ones before but these don't look so great. She seems to be acting normal and I saw my wyoddet peck at her spot. Does this look like injury or illness?

Thank you so much for the help.

It could be either routine injury (apply some Pick-No-More and neosporin and then leave it be) or potentially Dry Fowl Pox (no treatment, it will run its course and leave birds immune to future outbreaks). If you've seen other birds with scabs like these on the comb, wattle, and facial tissue over the last 2-6 weeks, with no other signs of aggression, I'd guess Fowl Pox. Especially likely if you brought in any new birds in this period and didn't do/didn't have a long enough quarantine. If it's only been in a few birds, and you've seen other signs of aggression or have any crowding in your flock, I'd tend more towards this being the doing of an aggressive hen.

Thanks for your advice. We are pretty fond of our hens by now and its good to know this isn't a be worried situation.
