Hi!

I have spent weeks trying to identify the breeds of my chickens. I dived head-first into backyard poultry and didn’t think ahead to keep track of which breeds I bought; I don’t know that the seller was trustworthy anyway as their ages are way off from what I was told. Anyway, sorry some of the pics are with the incubator light! Since their ages were way off what I was told, one or all of them have been laying and I just discovered today. I’ll watch from now on to see who lays what, but for now this is what I have. Descriptions and names are below, and thank you for your help!!

*I realize my pictures are not of them as adults... those are all videos. I will take pictures of the adult ladies and post them tomorrow.

Littlefoot
She’s the largest gal, with beautiful brownish speckled plumage and rusty orange on her neck. I’ve been debating Light Brown Leghorn or Brown Sussex, but so many look similar I just don’t know. She is spunky but has shy moments when I introduce a new treat, and is typically the least vocal.

Cera
Cera is my only white girl, and she has light black spots randomly on her plumage. The seller just called her a Dalmatian chicken. I have researched several spotted white breeds but nothing seems to match closely. She is fairly vocal and super sassy.

Petri
Petri was pulled from the Sapphire selection but has jet-black plumage. She is extremely vocal and typically avoids being pet. She is usually the bravest and first to explore new things.

Ducky
Ducky was also pulled from the Sapphire selection. She is my special girl- she became ill as a chick and I spent a lot of time rubbing Vet RX on her. She is fairly used to human interaction but prefers not being pet. She is mildly vocal. She has black plumage on her neck and lovely grey black-laced body plumage.

If you got them from a backyard breeder, chances are that they are all mixed breeds.

The one in the cardboard box looks like some type of Easter egger, particularly the type that is called olive egger.

The spotted white sounds like a California white, or Austrawhite.

The blue could be a Sapphire gem.

The black could be an Australorp.

But as I said, they are likely to be mixed breeds unless the seller bought them from a hatchery or farm store. Any seller of purebreds would tell you the breeds right from the beginning.

Agreed.

Well, truth be told I got them from Tractor Supply but didn’t want to say because their local chicken “expert,” didn’t appear to know more than I did first starting out. I did get pics of the ladies and the egg of the day. Thank you for your response!
