I found these tracks in my backyard, near my chicken pen.
    Could you please identify them?
Critters that frequent my neighborhood: rabbits, squirrels, possums and coons.
My guess is the young possum a saw in my shrubs a month earlier [IMG]

    Thanks in advance,
    Carrie Lynn

You don't seem to have a photo link.

    I'd guess racoon.

Looks like a coon to me.

Grouped in fours, spaced out as in hopping, dime to nickel sized? If so squirrel tracks. The back leg print of a coon is much larger and more elongated.

I don't think it's a raccoon either, they tend to look more like little monkey/kid hands.

Coon tracks for sure in my opinion.

Sounds like you need to trap it before it downsizes your flock.

I believe those are squirrel tracks. There's nothing to indicate scale, but I am guessing squirrel.

Quote:My thoughts exactly--I have squirrels that beg at the window if I don't keep their feeder filled so see a lot of tracks. Without something to determine scale I'd say they look like what is all over our deck. Raccoon would be larger and more space between--squirrels move with kind of a loping gate so front and back feet come together.
