This morning I woke up to my two month old pullet hanging upside down with her leg caught on the hanging part of the water jug. Once I took her down she could not move her leg and wouldn’t move at all. I separated her from the rest of the flock immediately. After a few hours and now throughout the day she has been eating some of her feed/most of a hard-boiled egg/a couple of small frozen blueberries. I have not seen her drink at all but I wet her beak a bit to get some water in.
She hadn’t pooped all day and now this was her first poop- LARGE and green tinged with really creamy white. (Sorry graphic)!
She’s walking a bit but cannot weight bear on that leg so she’s limping. She’s been able to put both feet down though and stand normally. It’s just when she walks she limps. It does not feel broken and I think if it was broken she wouldn’t be able to move it or stand at all on it which she has been. When I open the area she’s in she tries to walk more and get out a bit but other than that she’s pretty tired- I wouldn’t say super lethargic though and she’s easily arousable.
Any recommendations?! Here is the stool photo. Here’s her standing (hard to see). I’ve read about leg injuries in chickens and saw bad outcomes so I’m freaking out especially now with this greener tinged poop
Update (same night): left “knee” is definitely swollen. No crying out in pain and still eating ok! Gave Nutri-Dense via syringe since she’s not going for the water
