Please help!! My duckling hatched with egg sack still attached

    My mallard hatched yesterday afternoon with the sack still attached. It is scooting around the incubator on its side it has now been about 20 hours and seems to be struggling

    I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know much about hatching ducks but I think you should make sure it was what they eat at that age and give him/her plenty of water. And keep an eye on it just in case. Meanwhile I guess Google it. I hope it hasn't died yet. It looks really cute though

    They don't need food and water for the first three days since they absorb the yolk prior to hatching. If your hatchling is dragging the yolk sack you want to be sure it does not rupture so it has a chance to absorb it. A ruptured sack could be fatal so it may help to get it onto a smooth textured surface like shelf liner and keep the sack from drying out.

    Thank you, she ended up scratching the sack and breaking it, she is still alive and trying to walk but her legs seem to cross
