This morning I lost the second hen in a month to an illness that I can not figure out.
Both hens were over a year old. One a red sex link, the latest a speckled sussex.
They both are with a flock of about 80 chickens, they free range and spend the night in coops.
    Both have been wormed recently.
They both seemed fine, then presented with what I thought was sour crop with the first one. I treated her for sour crop, even gave her the sour crop pills from Hakes Poultry.
The one today had the exact same symptoms, I treated the same way and she died last night. I'm shocked at how fast these two hens died, from what looks like and smells like, and even feels like, sour crop. And so quickly, within 2-3 days of me noticing the symptoms and treating. (I spend a lot of time watching the chickens, so I usually notice a chicken that's off within a day)

Can worming a chicken with a sour crop kill them?

    I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm no expert in chicken health, but if they died so quickly it doesn't seem like it would just be sour crop, unless they choked or something like that. How are the other chickens doing?

Others are all fine. I opened up the crop of the last hen and found nothing. I was thinking I would surly find some string, plastic or something. Just grass, scratch and some bug parts and a horrible stink and lots of liquid.

Maybe some other disease is leading to the sour crop.
