Been watching my brahma egg all day bouncing around, and have been surprised that the chick hadn't pipped. Well, it did. But the pip is down around the bottom, resting on the metal grate. Should I open for a second and turn the egg so that the pip is on the top? It looks like it's really pushing it out as much as possible, but it can't due to the pip resting on the metal. What should I do??

Turn it! Those of mine that pip on the bottom usually drown!

Let us know what happens.

Ok, it hatched! Is the poor pathetic thing supposed to be able to stand quickly? It's rolling around....also, is there ever any thing left in the shell afterward? I think this thing is alien...

I was in for a surprize to. Yes yellowy (not yolk) junk left in the bottom of the shell and the chick takes a long time to get it's legs going well. By a day old they look more typical of baby chicks.

good job on the save!
