Hi friends! My family and I are the proud owners of 4 Rhode Island Red chicks, now 6 weeks old. They came from a reputable, local hatchery and we were assured they were sexed pullets. From an early age, two of the chicks were the bravest, most inquisitive and have now grown into the two biggest chicks. They also have the most developed combs. Which has me freaking out, as we are not allowed roos in this area. Can someone please reassure us??

this is Nugget, our smallest girl, definitely a pullet. Side note: she’s our sweetest baby and my son calls her his “shoulder bird” because that’s always where you can find her.

This is Gus, again no concerns on the sex

Bigfoot. The biggest chick and by far the leader. Please tell me she is not really a he!!

Sorry but both look like roosters to me. That young with that big & bright red comb?! Rooster.
Thanks, this is what I was afraid of!! Super irritated with the hatchery...we love these chicks so much! The good news is that a friend of mine that lives in the country is going to take them for me!
