Please tell me I have a pretty pullet!

at 8 or 9 weeks i was having the same problem as you because pickles (a bantam ameracauna rooster) had a small comb the first photo is week 9 and the second is 6 months. his comb was very small and only turned red when he was stressed or hot. then he turned out to be the most beautiful rooster i have ever seen. some are just late bloomers.

What do the grandparents have? LOL :pop:pop

I don’t actually know! I hatched the rooster from an egg given to me by a friend. Her rooster was reportedly a white mutt. She said she has some barred chickens but wasn’t sure what hen the egg cane from. The mom is pure bred buff Brahma. Here’s the mom and the dad. From my understanding, there are several variations of the barring gene, which under certain conditions can be expressed as a nearly all-white feathering. He has black leakage in his tail feathers which are hard to see in photos because there’s so little.

The dad was fertilizing these eggs when he was only 13 weeks old. I was able to tell he was a boy and his nearly identical sister was a girl by the time they were four weeks old.

Pickles is adorable but him turning out to be a boy isn’t what I want to hear 😂

I'm on the fence. I want to say cockerel, but I just don't know. Update us later with more pics!

Also, the chicken in your avatar looks like Rambo and I love it.
The avatar chicken’s name is Poppy! She’s a sweetie.

This chick has kept me so anxious about what it is! Definitely hatching your own doesn’t come with the peace of mind from hatchery chicks. I’ll definitely update!
