Please tell me she’s a barred rock pullet

I got her out of a straight run bin marked barred rock. I did my research and everything seemed to point towards barred rock pullet. Now I’m questioning. Pictures are most recent going to oldest. The very last photo is the day I brought them home on July 16th. I’ve had them about 3 weeks, not certain on age when I got them. I’m pretty sure the EE is younger. My frizzled Cochin bantam is 3.5-4.5 months old.

Also, they’ve been brooded outdoors and aren’t as hand tame as others I’ve done indoors so hard to get photos. Mix that with the poor planning on the brooder roof not fully opening and it’s a task to get them out.

Barred Rock is a pullet!

Behavior and comb development had me questioning. She’s not got a huge or red comb but more than any others I’ve had (even my Roos) at this age. My EE seems to have some form of squashed comb, def not a single, and it’s just a flat spot right now so nothing to compare to at the moment. I’m fairly confident on some breeds that aren’t auto sexing pulling from a SR bin. I’m confirmed 2 for 2 (they were OEGB), so we’ll see about my EE and this baby.

They are growing much faster than my others did. The others are mostly all hybrid egg layers and were brooded indoors until 7 weeks. These babies have been out since the day after they got brought home. They seem to thrive being out in the grass and sun and exposed to the big girls from the start.

Oh yeah, too dark to be a barred rock cockerel. The barring is a sex link gene, that links to the Z gene. hens will only have one copy, as they are ZW, but pure barred rock roosters will have two, as they are ZZ. Two copies of the barring gene makes the roosters a brighter silver and black than the females.

I just don’t say with certainty until it’s a crow or an egg 😂 I picked her from a straight run bin after a lot of research to make sure I got a girl
