We recently picked up some 18 week old red sex link pullets. The person that gave them to use had to many for his coop and run size. Four of the girls have had their rear feathers plucked off. No signs of lice or mites. Our question is will the feathers regrow? If so how long will it take? We are concerned that there will be frost bite issues in a few months. Thanks

The feathers will grow back, and they will need a bit of extra protein for that. If they grow too slow, you can try making a little sort o blanket or apron for them to cover their back. Good Luck!

So should we put them on higher protein feed, like something you would give to meat birds? Or can someone recommend something extra to add to their diet for the extra protein?
