Indeed.

Even treated wood is problematic for us here in the Steamy Southeast -- home of many forms of wood-destroying insects and other organisms.

You being in NC...I'm in northwest TN...you suggest anything other than the pressure treated plywood?
If I'm searching right, the rough sawn lumber is much more expensive cause it covers less. Didn't you just do your new coop?

Just beware the tendency of clear or translucent panels to turn a chicken coop into a rotisserie oven on even cool sunny days.

Hahaha yep still need to insulate and put in lots of ventilation, windows, etc.

No easy solution, or cheap one either these days.....

In my area ruff cut is much less expensive to cover a 4x8 section then a sheet of plywood or T1-11.
A 1x8x8 is $3.25. cost to cover a 4x8 area would be less than $20

Yeah cheapest thing I'm seeing is $10...and out of stock on a lot of those.

Exactly what kind of 'plywood' is priced at $30?
......because that doesn't sound so far out of line.

I paid about 20, 2 years ago. 30 is high.

It probably doesn't hold for all companies and all types of roofing. But it is important to know what you're dealing with.

I love my electric metal shears. SOOOOOO easy to use.

I'll have to look into those. I've got quite a bit of metal cutting in my future and I hate doing it by hand.

Osb, T1-11, or plywood is not the final outside layer that is exposed to the elements in most homes. I can't imagine that passing anyone's local inspection.

The thread title is "Plywood ALTERNATIVES". Sorry I struck a nerve. If you want to build an outdoor structure comprised of glued sawdust and wood chips, I most certainly will not stop you. I wish you luck.

It's just chickens, no need to get excited. I prefer to build once and be done.

I'm not the one who said plywood has no business inside or outside.
