I suspect my hen ate something poisonous ( may be pyrhana fly spray)..Can I give her some peptobismol???or something else?? Thank you
I would use activated charcoal. Here is an article on using it for livestock, including chickens: http://www.charcoalremedies.com/animals/animal_feed And here is another with dosing advice, scroll down to "remedies" and activated charcoal is the first on the list: http://gardentenders.com/members/XploreOrganics/blog/40
Thank you...I went to get some..Not that easy to find..Had to do 4 pharmacy to find some...I'll get a stock of it!..
I found this link this morning, passing it along for future: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/700526/flushes-for-aiding-in-toxin-removal I'd only do one of them, so I'd stick with the charcoal. Important concern with all of them is dehydration, so make sure she gets plenty of fluids. Also, with toxins, they all vary in how quickly they are absorbed from the digestive tract, so the sooner you treat obviously the better. With the charcoal you will likely see some black droppings, to be expected, until it's all passed through. Hope your bird is OK.
