Polish pony tail?

One of my polish hens has a rather large mop of feathers that is limiting her vision. What is better, to trim the feathers or to gently tie them up with a hair band?

If I really have to I trim the feathers rather than tie them up. If you get them bobbled up too tight this can cause irritation to your bird. Plus I've found they generally scratch the bobble out pretty quick!!
If your not fussed about the look of your bird trimming is fine.
