Hi everyone ,
We now have a flock of mainly Polish chickens . There is a couple frizzles and production layers(requested by husband ) in my flock too. I also have some Indian Runner Ducks .

Im going to use this thread to post pictures of chicks , grow outs and adult birds and anything else I find interesting in my day to day chicken tending. Please follow along if anything interests you.

Here is a picture of a chick I hatched from a large group of barnyard mix hatching eggs. And it has the naked neck gene! I was quite surprised to find a couple of naked necks in the batch of over 40 chicks I hatched . But then again , it’s barnyard mix, it really is a surprise.
This feature (naked neck) is something that I thought I didn’t like in chickens but seeing these two little chicks and researching the breed more, I’m a little intrigued . I’m not sure if I going to keep or sell at this point as I have limited room and I need to save space for my Polish grow outs.

I have a few polish and a few runners. I'm going to watch your thread for updates. :pop
Also, sometimes I find the uniqueness of physical qualities endearing even when I thought I wouldn't. I also have muscovy ducks. At first I wasn't sure I would like the looks of their caruncles, but now I love it.

Yes so relateable! I’ve had a few muscovies too over the summer . They were lovely but I had to have less ducks for over winter.

Here is my three year old daughter with the egg collection from today. Most of the brown eggs are from the production layers I bought for my husband. They are a bovan/hyline brown mix.

In November an area nearby had flooding so some of these eggs are from an evacuee flock that we temporarily took in.

Here is one of my rooster prospects, a white crested golden cuckoo. He is still quite young so I’m excited to see him grow some long tail feathers!

I apologize for the blurry in the pictures as they are screenshots of a video.
