I'm putting this here as it is kind of an injury!
We went out fir the day got back late night ish
Left the chicken loose with plenty if food and water ( I thought)
We went I'm the garden about 10 pm when we got back to lock the girls in for the night as we always do -
Only 5 were in the coop ready to go in the roost box spent a hour looking for the 6th finally found her floating dead in the pond !
We out a net up across the pond to stop them going up by there eating the plants she had obviously flown over this (6ftish) and landed in the pond -OR- she needed a drink and fell in - it was hot and their water bowls were bone dry :(
PLEASE cover your ponds with a net so you don't end up like us - minus one pet

Sorry for your loss, pinklily. (Fully fledged)
Chickens can actually swim like champs, believe it or not. This was just a case of bad, bad luck. I am sorry.
