Hello so I have some 5-6 day old chicks. This morning we found a dead chick 😭 it was totally normal looking. Clear vent not a small chick. It did have a shaving in its beak but not like far down? Not sure.

Anyways I’ve been really watching them today to make sure the rest seem well and this afternoon I had 3 pasty butt chicks which I cleaned up and then I saw another with poop stuck to it’s vent that if I had not cleaned up would have hardened.

I’ve attached a pic of the poo stuck so you can tel me if the poo looks normal or not? Any suggestions on what could be happening?

After a pretty lousy hatch and then losing the one this morning I can’t stand to lose anymore!

Anyone??

What are you feeding them and are you SURE they are eating?
Can you post a photo of your brooder set up please?

Kinda hard to tell...is it watery and/or foamy?
Pics of other chicks poops might help..best if they are on paper towels so poops can be seen clearly.
Tell us more about your 'lousy hatch'.

Yes, what all and how exactly are you feeding and watering.

No more poop issues.

Are they too cold though?

I’m scared to move the light closer. Looked for an additional but couldn’t find
