He had to euthanize one of his chicks this morning. I knew she wasn't doing well, but I hoped she improve or I'd give her peace when I got home. I am always the one who ends up with this duty, but he was late leaving and saw she was suffering. He called to ask me what to do. I am proud of him for helping her, even though it absolutely devastates him to do it.

I know how you feel. I had to put one of the very first chicks I ever hatched down. It was not fun. DH offered to do it for me but I told him no. I figure if I am going to hatch and raise chickens, part of being a good steward is having to have to make the hard decisions and doing the hard jobs sometimes. He was a sweetie though, he stood next to me while I did it. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] to you and your DH.

I know this sounds cruel but I have 26 baby chicks coming in next Friday and if I have to, I have no idea. How do you euthanize a chick. Also, I keep see DH & DW. Obviously the h & w are for husband and wife, what does the d stand for?
