I have two rescued battery chickens habe had them 5 years or so ... one of them seems to be relying on the other and maybe cant see any more. They haven't been sick but I've built a deck near their enclosure and wonder if something had happened... she hasn't been injured either... she is half the weight of my other chook. She feeds from her feeder on pellets and i give them layer mash etc but seems depressed!! They don't have a lot of grass at the moment but i bring grass in ... should i take her to the vet? Any ideas would be great

Is she still laying eggs or has she recently stopped? She may be egg bound, or have "hen" problems that are common in the high producing egg layers hatcheries keep.
If you can take her to a vet, I would advise it. The ER people here are very good but, nothing takes the place of a "hands on," examination and any tests needed. I hope she will do well.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am sorry your bird isn't feeling well. I do hope the folks in the Emergency section can help her. :)
