I have a chick that is about a week old. It had really bad pasty butt. I cleaned it up yesterday and checked today to find it covered again. While rinsing it this time, I noticed that off to the left of the belly button area (above and to the left of the vent when it is laying on it's back) that there is a pea sized lump underneath the skin. It is not the umbilical cord or anything of that nature. Any thoughts? Hernia? Something else? When it poops, it is collecting on this lump and causing the pasty butt.
