Instead of spending lots of money on insulation we use thatches nailed to the outside of the studs. We then stuff hay in-between the thatches and the wall. Cheaper, especially when you live on a ranch and make hay. And the chickens will pull it out when they want, and it offers lots of fun for them in the winter
