poult coloring for lavender phase of slates?

blue slates produce 3 colors right? black, blue and lavender.... black and blue should be easy to tell the difference between, but can lavender and blue be told apart as day olds?

no, blue states will produce blue slates black and self blue.

same difference, lavender and self blue, depends on who you ask, that wasn't specifically my question, my question was can you tell the blues and self blues apart at hatch.

no, not until they begin to feather out, and you can see the slate pattern developing.

Actually my self blues do tend to be a lighter gray at hatch. But, yes, as the feathers start growing the coloring is easier to tell. I have 3 that are 3 weeks old and one is a self blue, the other two are slate.
