prayer warriors (following Jesus Christ, everyone welcome)

Billy Graham just died, I can not imagine how happy he is now that he is with our savior and his wife, Ruth.

My wife and I went to one of his sermon's for a date in 1971 at Texas Stadium.

Amen. He knew the scriptures and used them well. I wonder how many Saints will be thanking him for introducing them to Jesus? Such a legacy.

I am reading a book about being a better father from a Biblical point of view.

How many verses can we list that tells of God's love for every human, even those that I/we do not think "deserve" that love.

John 3:16 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

I'm gonna quote the ones I have in the brain data bank. They may not be word perfect, and I may have several verses jumbled together. And I can't quote their address. Some one get out the red pen, and correct me!

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor, that he might taste death for EVERY MAN.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. (this being the ones who choose Jesus as their savior)

But, as many as received HIM, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.

For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But, the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (that gift is available to all who choose to receive it.)

My wife and I read Billy Graham's biography, early in his life Billy preached a sermon when no one gave their life to Jesus (saved or believed, John 3:16). A friend mentioned to Billy that he did not mention the cross, every sermon after that Billy was successful in "leading another to Heaven". There must have been 200 new brothers and sisters at the evening Crusade that My future bride and I attended, I postponed my decision for another six years. Billy watered the seed in my soul that other future friends would nurture.

Matthew 13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Jesus Teaches in Parables

13 That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea. 2 And [a]large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

3 And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 Others fell [b]among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 He who has ears, [c]let him hear.”

An Explanation

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 [d]Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 [e]In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

‘[f]You will keep on hearing, [g]but will not understand;
[h]You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
15 For the heart of this people has become dull,
With their ears they scarcely hear,
And they have closed their eyes,
Otherwise they would see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.’

16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

The Sower Explained

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears the [i]word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. 20 The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the [j]word, immediately he [k]falls away. 22 And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the [l]world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Love Without End Amen

Got sent home from school one day
With a shiner on my eye
Fightin' was against the rules
And it didn't matter why
When dad got home I told that story
Just like I'd rehearsed
Then stood there on those tremblin' knees
And waited for the worst

And he said
Let me tell you a secret about a father's love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
He said daddies don't just love their children
Every now and then
It's a love without end, amen
It's a love without end, amen

When I became a father
In the spring of '81
There was no doubt that stubborn boy
Was just like my father's son
And when I thought my patience
Had been tested to the end
I took my daddy's secret
And I passed it on to him

I said
Let me tell you a secret about a father's love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
I said daddies don't just love their children
Every now and then
It's a love without end, amen
It's a love without end, amen

Last night I dreamed I'd died
And stood outside those pearly gates
When suddenly I realized
There must be some mistake
If they know half the things I've done
They'll never let me in
Then somewhere from the other side
I heard these words again

And they said
Let me tell you a secret about a father's love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
You see daddies don't just love their children
Every now and then
It's a love without end, amen
It's a love without end, amen
