The scary talk about the debt ceiling is all hype.
It's not going to affect the feed markets

I was more thinking about the hyper inflation of the dollar and the cost of everything

    It's all hype,
The Govt takes in 10 times more each month than is needed to pay the bills.
All the "doom and gloom" is political scare tactics.

It's just a game they like to play

Jeff Foxworthy has been quoted something along the lines of The United States founded by geniuses, run by idiots. We are building a house in the country and county building codes require house number on the building even though we are over half a mile from the road and you can't even see the house through the trees. The DC idiots are playing a dangerous game. What will interest rates do if we default, they do not have a clue.

What he ^ said. All this talk of default is just a way to get the public to put pressure on your congressman and make the polls look bad. The money is there like Bear Foot said. If the interest on the debt doesn't get paid, then somebody did it on purpose. I'm not sure who that somebody is, maybe the Treasury, but I do know who makes the decisions on where to spend the money right now to keep things open and it ain't Congress. Oh, and they bring in enough money to make SS payments too so don't be fooled by that. And if hyperinflation ever does come, you will be worrying more about gas, milk and bread, not chickenfeed.

Chickens maybe the only thing some people have to get by on. From the eggs and meat that's why I was asking this question

Well, that egg will definitely turn golden. :D

Best to let them free range in that scenario. Or buy a silo.

If you are trapped in a hyperinflationary economy it becomes equally important for you to hang on without selling anything as it is important that you buy everything in sight.

There are old but true stories about the Weimar Socialists Government that came to power in Germany after the November 9th 1918 revolution that disposed the Keiser. Since November 11th (Veterans Day is the 95th anniversary of the temporary sensations of hostilities in The War to End All Wars (WWI) I think that a couple of these stories applies to America's day of destiny 10-17-2013 or if you are reading this in Europe, 17-10-2013.

In the early 1920s one small sausage about the size of a hot dog cony and a wheat role sold for over 4 trillion dollars (Marks) in German money. Before some of you post a picture in Gothic Script advertising ein Wurst unt Brot for only 4 Billion Marks, not 4 Trillion Marks, if you had ever been overseas you would know that the European number for a Billion has 13 places to the left of the decimal point, the same as the North American word or number for a Trillion has. The Europeans generally call our Billion "One Thousand Millions."

Employees were eventually paid twice per day so that they could run out at 10:AM and 3:00PM and buy something, any something with their pay before the new price increases came out at noon and at 5:00PM. Because no one knew in advance what the twice daily price increases would be it was difficult to buy food at these times because the grocer never knew what he would have to pay to restock his store with potatoes or eggs in an hour or two, better to hoard the stock he already had so that he would have a cushion to fall back on. The farmers were equally as reluctant to sell because as long as they held their butter and turnips they had money in their pockets, but the moment they converted 5 pounds of butter or a bushel of turnips into cash, the money in their pockets started vaporing.

Early one morning a German House Frau was standing in line waiting on a baker to open. She had a large laundry basket of money with her to buy her family's daily bread. While someone distracted her an accomplish stole her basket but dumped her cash on the paving stones because real cash or money was now worthless, but a dingy used laundry basket kept its value day after day, in fact the laundry basket's value went up day after day like Apple's stock!!!!!!! The smart money knows this and it is the only reason that the DOW is as high today as it is.

Instead of some of you worrying about the ethics of killing a chicken killing coon, you may soon be worrying if you should shoot the widow with two young children to feed who you spied stealing your eggs last night, or if you should lay in wait for her to return and just kill all three. There are no easy choices when your own survival is at risk.

Like it or not the only thing that I am sure of is that the current administration has delivered on its campaign promise to RE-SET the American economy. My wife and I both got letters yesterday canceling our Medicare insurance and my step son's health insurance policy went up $6,000 dollars per year while his deductible and co-pays under the new Affordable Care Act doubled and tripled.

If the government has been shut down, I sure haven't noticed. Because I haven't noticed, I apprently can do without it. Maybe the government should shut down 1 week per month and we would be the better for it.
Only thing I noticed was that farmers are selling 50# sacks of corn on Craiglist for $8 and TCS sells it for $9.79 but TSC doesn't have any because the deer shooters have bought it all up. For smoe strange reason the deer shooters refuse to buy 40# bags of deer corn @ $7.99 when they can get 50# of chicken corn @ $9.79.
If it were me I'd buy open an option call on deer corn and sell close a put on chicken corn and leverage my position by going short on rabbit feed because I got a free news letter email that predicted the DOW @ 20k by years end.
