Previously Broody Hen Not Laying

Hello all!

Well, the title says it all! We have a 1yo golden sexlink hen that was broody for about 4 weeks. We had to break her of it. (Gently) But now, she isn't laying. Is this normal or should we be investigating another cause?

It is normal for a hen that waz broody not to lay for a couple weeks.

She may have lost lots of condition while setting for 4 weeks.
Give her time.

Just a few days. I am now starting to see that it may take a while. Couple of weeks?

Mine usually take about 2 weeks before they start to get a schedule going again, but the ones that brood longer take longer to start

I usually see mine molt, sometimes a light molt and sometimes more, after they stop sitting. I don't see eggs from my girls until after this. I would work on getting her weight back on (if she lost any as a broody oftentimes does lose some weight) and back into the normal groove of things. Some of my girls have not laid for up to a month after being off the nest. Im sure every bird is different but it sounds like your girl is not abnormal at all.
