I have an older quail who had two soft eggs that broken in her oviduct and prolapsed. I was afraid she had an infected Oviduct. I had one dose of Baytril. I gave it to her and she is acting normal now. But I want to keep giving her more antibiotics. To get more Baytril I have to take her to the vet. I do not want to do that so I got some penicillin G at a farm supply. Is it ok to give a quail and if so what is the dose? Thanks
The dosage for Pen G is .10cc per pound. So a very tiny amount. Use a 20 gauge needle. Alternate left breast right breast each day for 7 days. You can also get Baytril on line here at First State Vet Supply.... http://www.firststatevetsupply.com/store2/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29807 This place carries all sorts of good antibiotics. I have purchased lots of stuff from this website. Good luck with your bird!
