From my understanding a production red is the same thing as a hatchery rir. These have been crossed with leghorn.

A production red is a cross between a rhode island red and a new hampshire red. According to my welp catalog.

    Production Red to me:
A Rhode Island Red or variation of that has been bred for massive production of eggs. These birds are all red or an "orangish" color that is not considered either red or the same color as NHR.

Chef...I can dream...I can definitely dream!

I believe those are Swiss RIR, but I could be wrong. Gorgeous isn't he! Gorgeous birds...I love true RIRs.
