hello, I’ve just recently got 6 muscovies. They’re now about 9 weeks old and very big. Very sadly 2 have been eaten by a local otter. We live by a river which they love but I worry we let them roam free too early before they could fly.
How can we train them to get into their pen at night? They sleep by the river at night at the moment.

Also - we now have 3 drakes and only one clever female (who can now fly). I worry they will overwhelm her come springtime!

So just for clarification:
  • You’re looking for answers about training ducks to go to their pen at night
  • You’re looking for information about duck male/female ratios
But you’re not looking for information about catching the otter, etc.

If this is true, I think you can use the Report button to ask the staff to move this to the Duck forum, where it is more likely to find the right audience
