Screws protruding 1/2" inside coop, does this pose a risk for chickens? Should they be cut off or use shorter screws? Finished coop.

I'd use shorter screws - less work than cutting. Sooner or later one chicken or another will injure themselves.

And yes, sooner or later someone will put out their eye. Or break their beak pecking at it.

I was thinking of suggesting screw caps but those persistent chickens would probably pull them off and eat them. Shorter screws would be a quick, simple fix.

If a tiny screw tip is sticking out I just cover with duct tape. [IMG]

My husband just takes a hammer or a block of wood or whatever is handy and breaks off the protruding ends. [IMG]

I'd be more worried about cutting MYSELF than the chickens... cuz I know that eventually I would...

Try screw caps or shorter screws. Sooner or later you or your clothing will be scratched by them. You are more likely to be injured than the chickens.
